Productivity Boosters To Increase Your Home Business Profits.

Productivity Boosters To Increase Your Home Business Profits.

So you’ve decided that working for a boss sucks ( Forgive my candidness). You want to be your own boss, and working at home has a special appeal to it, of course increasing your home business profits sounds good too, there is just one small snag.

Like many others, working from home sounds good. Freedom. Flexible hours and all the benefits like spending your home business profits and not having to wake up early, commute to work and fill someone else’s pockets..

Funny thing though that even though many people want to be their own boss and work from home, when, they finally find the perfect home business opportunity they do not “act like their own boss “

As a matter of fact what I am about to share with you might not come as a surprise

You see, working from home and being your own boss takes discipline, and planning – This is not often the case and the result of working from home can become rather frustrating and Andrew Cass Author of “EXTREME PRODUCTIVITY SECRETS.” describes it as  – Their day becomes an unplanned, unfocused, unraveled mess. Their time is hijacked by anyone and everyone around them. They have no real direction, no plan, no respect for the clock. They spiral out of control, fast. And they inevitably, end up back “at work” working “for someone else.”

Does any of this sound familiar to you. Honestly, I can relate to this and thank heavens before I totally lost it (my mind, that is ) and gave up like 97% of all marketers do. I realised that I would need to have a personal productivity plan in place to improve my productivity and ultimately my home business profits.

Here are a 3 simple steps to get you working from home effectively instead of being “all over the show” looking productive but achieving little to no definite results in your home business.

1.) Productivity Booster #1 – Attend to all income producing activities first.

Determine how many hours a day you want to work on your business, how many hours you allocate to prospecting, networking, research and income producing activities.

Allocate times to each activity and ensure that you choose to add activities like prospecting to the top of your list. Switch off all annoying electronic items that could possibly distract you, Email, Skype, mobile phone, office telephone, television etc. Ensure you remain totally focused on completing your income producing activity first after all these will derail you from achieving your home business profits.

2.) Productivity Booster #2 – Group Activities together.

What does this mean? When you have a appointment in town, do few tasks together like, going to collect mail at a the post office, having your hair done, a quick grocery shop, meet with the accountant and stop off at the bank on one day instead of getting in your car and dashing off to collect the mail only to find that when you start the evening meal you have run out of milk and need to rush off to the shop to get some more. Planning your daily activities so that you can batch these tasks together saves you time and reduces overwhelm as these events are planned and structured into your week leaving you with more time to concentrate on building and increasing your home business profits.

3.) Productivity Booster #3- Environment.

Ensure that when you work from home you have an allocated and dedicated area that you work in, with sufficient ventilation and lighting and also a space where you can be creative and if you need to, a door to shut to avoid interruptions.

Finding the best spot for different activities can increase productivity. This might mean that you make your prospecting calls from the comfort of your home office, while you might like to read and catch up on correspondence in your library.

Finding different spots to do your home business activities can lead to increased productivity, reduced overwhelm and put a stop to procrastination. You might like to have a special room allocated as a Dream room, this can be used to be creative in, come up with product ideas or visualise your goals.

Having a focused environment for different activities is a great way of remaining focused on the specific task at a hand and adds variety to your day  Imagine sitting in one spot doing all these tasks all day long. How boring and frustrating never mind the poor blood circulation as a result of being positioned in one solitary spot for an indefinite length of time.

Believe it or not the greatest spot that I have found in my home for blogging is in the main living room, sitting facing the ocean on a comfy couch. I love it.

Most network marketers are looking to improve their home business profits, by taking heed and applying the 3 simple productivity boosters above, you will be on your way to a brighter looking future soon.

Excellent Points Brenda, Discipline and planning are key, I think it is sometimes hard for new marketers to realize that they are now on their “clock”. And productivity is their responsibility. No more boss to tell them what to do and when to do it.

What a great article Brenda, and what a fabulous spot to do your blogging, looking out over the ocean, in a comfy chair, I am sure with a cuppa as well, what more could you ask for.

Awesome post, Brenda. I love booster #1 the most. You’re so right. It’s very important to attend to all income producing activities first before attending to non-income producing activities.

    Thanks for sharing.

That’s probably because people are used to taking orders, few have what it takes to be a boss, even if only their own. Those that have strong impulse will get over it and build a plan, keep a schedule, assign some hours. The rest… well, someone has to flip those burgers at McDonalds, right?
